Marion Street Apartments

The Marion Street Apartments provide nine homeless youth with permanent supportive housing, giving them the opportunity and support needed to become independent and self sufficient. Many of the residents have become homeless due to past involvement in the child welfare system, failed foster care placements, and overall lack of housing options for youth their age. Without this type of housing, many of these youth would remain homeless and lose the opportunity to gain educational and employment skills that enable them to live independently. The Marion Street Apartments and accompanying social services will provide residents with case management, mental health services, drug and alcohol counseling, employment training, educational opportunities and independent living skills. The overall goal of the Marion Street project is aimed at transitioning vulnerable and homeless youth to permanent housing and self-sufficiency.

The Marion Street Apartments are part of a larger development of condominiums in Paterson known as “The Hamilton Heights Condominiums”. These market rate condominiums are integrated into a relatively stable neighborhood within walking distance of schools, services and public transportation. In total there are 31 new one, two and three-bedroom condominium units. NJCDC owns 6 units which are leased to homeless young adults. The safe location, availability of opportunities, and mix of incomes makes Hamilton Heights an ideal setting for this population.
