Hawthorne Heights
Individuals with developmental disabilities are flourishing in communities throughout our state and nation. Once confined to institutions, people with developmental disabilities are living in their own apartments, shopping and cooking for themselves, working steady jobs, going to dances and restaurants, and enjoying everyday liberties that most people take for granted.
In order to provide our residents with apartments of their own, NJCDC has developed a facility consisting of 12 one-bedroom apartments in the Borough of Hawthorne on land donated by the municipality. Residents are offered a variety of supportive services to help them live independently. The residents move up the ladder of independence by managing their own apartments, with staff on-site to provide assistance as necessary. A large common room and backyard offers residents space to socialize and provides a sense of community.
We are proud to be part of a movement that enables people with developmental disabilities to live on their own in supportive environments, enriching our communities and demonstrating that each of us can succeed regardless of the challenges we face.

Hawthorne Heights offers residents wrap-around support services while also promoting independence.
